What is an Instagram Reels downloader?
Instagram Reels are short vertical videos, up to 3 minutes long, that play inside the Instagram app or on instagram.com. Instagram intentionally does not offer a universal “save video” button for other people’s posts: you can bookmark a Reel to a private collection, but that bookmark only works inside the app, only while you have a connection, and only for as long as the creator keeps the post online. The download is the easy part. The responsibility starts after that. Keep your own work, save public content for personal viewing, or use files you already have permission to use.
Reasonable uses
- Your own Reels. Recovering a video you published but no longer have the source file for is the single most common reason people use a tool like this.
- Offline personal viewing. Saving a recipe, a workout routine or a travel tip to watch on a flight or in a dead zone.
- Content you have permission to use. A client sends you their Reel, a creator gives you an explicit licence, or the content is published under a permissive licence.
- Evidence and record-keeping. Journalists, moderators and researchers preserving public posts that may be deleted.
Uses you should avoid
- Re-uploading someone else’s Reel as your own. This is straightforward copyright infringement and it is also the fastest way to get an account struck.

File formats, resolution and file size
A Reel that Instagram accepts at upload is normalised into a fairly narrow set of renditions. In practice you will see a vertical 9:16 MP4 container holding an H.264 video track and an AAC audio track. A 30-second 1080p Reel is usually between 4 MB and 12 MB depending on how much motion is in the frame, a static talking-head clip compresses far better than a fast-cut dance video.

How to tell a safe downloader from a risky tool

If a download does not work
Most failed downloads come from 1 of these causes:
- The account is private. Nothing to be done, that is the creator’s choice and we respect it.
- The link is a profile link, not a post link. The URL must contain
/reel/or/p/followed by the post code. - The link came from a share sheet with extra tracking parameters. Those are harmless, but a truncated copy is not, make sure you copied the whole address.
- The post was deleted or age-restricted after you copied the link.
- An aggressive ad blocker or corporate proxy is blocking the media host. Try a different network.

Does the downloaded video have a watermark?
The file we hand you is the same file Instagram delivers, so we add nothing of our own, no logo, no intro, no overlay. But, if the creator burned a TikTok watermark, a brand bug or their own handle into the video before uploading it, that is part of the pixels and cannot be removed by any downloader without cropping or repainting the frame.

No. Instagram does not notify anyone when a Reel is viewed or saved through an external page, and we never contact Instagram on your behalf using your identity. The creator sees no extra view, no notification and no record of your device.
Do you store the videos I download?
No. No copy of the media is kept, and no library of downloaded Reels is built.
