Why you get a JPG
Instagram stores feed pictures as JPG, so every IG photo download here is a JPG too. Any phone, computer or photo editor opens it without a converter. The file is named after the account and the post code, with a number for each slide.
How big full size is
Most posts are stored 1080 pixels wide, newer ones up to 1440. The card shows the exact size, such as 1080 × 1350, before you tap Download. More in our guide to saving Instagram photos at full size.
Better than a screenshot
A screenshot copies your screen, not the photo, so it picks up status bars and your phone's own resolution. The download is the image file itself, at its stored size, with the edges intact.
Saving photos on iPhone
Safari puts the JPG in Files → Downloads. Open it, tap Share and pick Save Image to move it into the Photos app.
Saving photos on Android and PC
Chrome saves each JPG to Downloads, and Android's Gallery picks it up shortly after. On a computer, look in the Downloads folder or your browser's download list.
When Download all stops early
Download all saves the photos one by one, about a second apart. If only the first arrives, your browser is asking permission for multiple downloads. Allow it and press the button again.

Open the picture in the Instagram app, tap the share icon and pick Copy link. On a computer, the address bar holds the same link.

Put the link in the box at the top of this page. Each photo in the post appears as its own card, with its size in pixels.

Tap Download under the picture you want, or Download all. Android saves to Downloads; iPhone puts it in the Files app.

Does the Instagram photo downloader cost anything?
No. Save one photo or a hundred, there is no paid plan and no sign-up. It runs in your browser, so there is no app to install either.
What size are the downloaded photos?
The largest size Instagram serves for that post, usually 1080 or 1440 pixels wide, saved as a JPG. Nothing is resized or compressed again.
Can I download every photo in a carousel?
Yes. Each picture gets its own Download button, and Download all saves them one after another.
Why is my photo smaller than 1440 pixels?
The size depends on what was uploaded. If someone posted a small or tightly cropped image, Instagram keeps that smaller version, and it is the largest file anyone can get.
Why is the photo a JPG and not a PNG?
Instagram stores photos as JPG and we hand over that file as it is. Converting it to PNG would make it bigger without adding any detail.
Can I save photos from a private Instagram account?
No. Private photos are only shown to approved followers who are signed in. We never sign in, so they cannot be fetched, by design.
Where do downloaded Instagram photos go?
On Android, the JPG goes to Downloads and appears in Gallery soon after. On iPhone and iPad, Safari puts it in Files → Downloads; tap Share → Save Image to add it to Photos.
Can I use a downloaded Instagram photo on my own page?
Only with the photographer's permission, or if the photo is yours. Keeping a picture for personal reference is one thing; posting it again or using it in marketing can break copyright law and Instagram's terms.

Can I download an Instagram photo by username?
